There are several stations (bahnhof) in Frankfurt.  Going to check and see if there is a connection at Frankurt-am-Main airport.

I have been to FRA a few times. The station is called 'Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof', approx. 5 mins walk from the main airport. Use this to search on the Die Bahn site.

Libra, we need some help.  If you have been to the airport ICE station Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof do the pictures in frame 45,46,and 47 look like the correct station?  I am sure it is not the Bahnhof in either Stuttgart or Munich since they are enclosed structures.  Of course, it could be some other suburban station.  Also note that the buildings reflected in the coach window as Dani walks by are the same buildings shown in frame 45 as the train approaches.  Also just from the frames it is hard to determine whether she is getting off the train or boarding the train.  If I see the pictures in motion, it would be clearer.

Help us out and you can share our Schnitzel!!

Another notation.  In frame 48 we have Jeremy (gray jacket) driving his Mercedes.  Note that the windshield visor is DOWN and he seems to be driving into the sun. It could be either early morning or late afternoon; I favor the latter.  Any other ideas, Chateau?

As to Puddin's query about camera shots.  These test facilities are as secure as secure can get.  Mercedes (and other companies in Germany) are comstantly developing and testing new models and concept cars that may not see the light of a showroom for years to come.  They would try everything they can to learn other companies secrets and vise versa; that's why no private cameras are allowed on the grounds.

gingerman28,

Last time I was in FRA was June 2005. The airport station only has a roof, it's not indoors and fully enclosed like the one in Munich. I think the roof only covers part of the platform so those 3 shots of the train arriving/departing could be the airport station. Sorry I don't remember and can't be 100% certain. I tried to google pics of this station but couldn't come up with any.

OK kids, time for a Daimler-Chrysler Reality Check.  We see a racer running past parked Mercedes at the entrance to the Daimler-Chrysler Unterturkheim plant on the east side of Stuttgart.  There are 3 (as far as we know) MB test tracks in the Stuttgart area.  2 at the MB Sindelfingen plant and one at the Unterturkheim plant.  (Try to say that three time fast).  Given that we don't have any vidcaps of any Sindelfingen buildings (only a possible track), we can probably assume the racers drive the test track at Unterturkheim.  This brings up another possibility, given the CBS spoiler, the racers may follow each other to the wrong MB facility, given they are over 12 miles apart. It's possible.

I looked a bit more, this is a photo of Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof (I don't have photobucket account):

http://www.schachbezirk-freiburg.de/usa/0409/slide02.html

This page is not in English but there are 3 photos of this station (around middle of page):

http://www.nicospilt.com/nurnberg2005.htm

The 4th photo with the S9 train is not, the S9 train is a train from the FRA hbf (the main train station).

There are at least 5 tracks. You can see the number "5" next to "F" sign. I was wrong, those caps are probably not from FRA airport station.

just looking , thanks for the help Libra  :jumpy:
Gman it looks to me like the Dees are getting off the ICE as I can see someone getting on
crappy quality vidcaps  (:;)

Frankfurt Station << http://www.arch21.org/Galleries/Galleries.html

I know we've been over this but I'm putting it here for my own reference

Focused primarily in Germany, with service to some areas of Switzerland and Austria also available, the ICE connects all the major German cities such as Frankfurt and Hamburg in just under 3.5 hours.

It services over 32 destinations including Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Cologne. With speeds of up to 174 mph and hourly service, travel on the ICE Premier Trains through Germany is a joy. Some trains also go to Switzerland (Zurich and Interlaken) and Austria (Vienna).

Travel Times:
  Zurich - Stuttgart: 2 hours 47 minutes
 Frankfurt - Hamburg: 3 hours 35 minutes
 Frankfurt - Munich: 3 hours 37 minutes
 Cologne - Berlin: 4 hours 16 minutes
 Vienna - Nuremburg: 5 hours 17 minutes
 Munich - Berlin: 6 hours 50 minutes

Puddin, you're right. Dees are getting off so this can't be Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof. It can't be Stuttgart or Munich hbf either. Which station is it?

This leg seems really hard to figure out!

Maybe the Dees were one of the teams stranded at the " Foreign " airport and they opted for a different flight ? Russia to " foreign ( insert flight here " to ??

Chateau - now that people have laid out all kinds of maps etc. of the MB test track in Sindelfingen can you look at vidcap no. 36 (Merc on the test track) and using your patented protractor give us an estimate of what time this shot was made???  It would help us figure out what comes when on this leg.

Will try to find a completed DB schedule for the ICE train from Frankfurt to Munich.  Could be that the Dees got off the train at a suburban station on the outskirts of Munich which might be nearer to the Bavarian Film Studio.  If teams must pick up there mercs here and "drive to the Roadblock" they might get lost hereabouts.

Okay!  That seems certain.

Isn't this were the steep bank turn is?

Yep, given the info both puddin and I have matched with the vidcaps, it looks like Daimler-Chrysler Unterturkheim test track is the place.  So that leaves MB Sindlefingen test track(s) OUT.

I did notice that the way the shadows fall on the track, the curve shown in the vidcaps must be pointing north.  Notice that the Unterturkheim loop is pointing north/northwest.  I'd say it's a lock.

Ha ha ha, I didn't realize we still had any issues left with the ICE train.  Oh yeah, the station has not been identified.     Just a thought, does the ICE train have a stop near the Bavarian Film Studio in Gruenwald?   :-\

I'm sure you already know this but here's everything you ever wanted to know about Rail Travel in Germany

OK this one is known as the ICE-T
ICE with Tilting Technology (ICE T)

some info but its dated

New ICE T Munich to Berlin. (All Aboard!).(train travel)(Statistical Data Included)

International Travel News; 10/1/2002; Brunhouse, Jay

Search for more information on HighBeam Research for German Rail ICE-T schedule.

(Part one of two)

With tender tilts, ICE. No. 1610 Helene Weigel began to snake through the curves and hilly terrain of Germany's Frankenwald (forest) and it was then that I fully appreciated the advantages of the train's active tilt system and the comforts of its deluxe interior.

My train was one of GermanRail's (DB's) new third-genera ICE (InterCity Express) trains, 'which sport a sleek and stylish new exterior design and boast some of the most luxurious interiors I have seen in new trains in recent years.

The Helene Weigel is an ICE T, which tilts around curves on twisting, electrified lines. Shorter, diesel ICE TDs give the same riding comfort on nonelectrified lines. ICE 3 and ICE 3M are full-out speed burners already cutting travel times on high-speed lines.

Thirty-two 143-mph first-series ICE T trains have assumed former InterCity (IC) duties from locomotive-pulled IC trains on electrified routes throughout Germany, and you are reaping the benefits. ICE T's first series is so well received that DB . recently placed an order for 28 second-series ICE Ts costing nearly $400 million.

The fastest way from Munich to Berlin is over high-speed lines, changing trains in Hannover, but I had never traveled the alternative direct route through former East Germany, and that is why I chose. to be aboard the ICE T Helene Weigel. It was my first experience aboard this new type, of train.

Since, the introduction of ICE Ts between Munich and Berlin via Nurnberg and Leipzig, your travel time has decreased from seven hours. and 34 minutes over the 442-mile route at 58 mph average to six hours, 55 minutes (64 mph average). The same route would have taken you eight hours, 48 minutes by IC train in summer 1992, only 10 years ago.

The wording in TV guide is indeed interesting - "a couple" - this could be David & Lori (there are recent posts about this in the spoilers thread).

I checked out the website of Bavarian Film Studio to find the closest train station but it's in German. I googled for this as well but couldn't find it.

ICE trains only stop at major stations. Teams most likely have to change to a local train in Munich if they are taking the train.

I'm ICED out for now  :lol3: !!
I've been thinking about the Roadblock
Driving to the Roadblock in Germany, one team follows another who leads them in the wrong direction,

Do the teams earn the Gnome at
A) Mercede's test track
B) Roadblock
C) Detour
<< gnome on table  at detour near Ray
<< BJ running with a Gnome , no backpack in some sort of field which has to be DOH Germany

The confessional shot here was taken at the coffee plantation outside of Brotas, Brazil.  The confessional of Double Dees looks like Germany somewhere. They start off the next day at the zipline with their TTOW shirts.

Where did Tyler's yellow hat come from?? Looks like nice German Bavarian village.  Check with shot in opening flash cards.

How do we relate the fact that BJ has the Travelocity Gnobe out in the field and Ray has it with him as he changes into Lederhausen?????

Does Roadblock come before the Bavarian Film Studio DETOUR?

BJ is wearing different jacket during MB test track gig.  Next day after drive from Munich??
